Jolimont Peruvian Viracocha

Viracocha originates from the famous Sollacotta herd, one of the most outstanding fleece producing herds in Peru, known for the fineness of their fibre. He is one of only two herdsires from the Sollacotta lineage imported into Canada; the other being Jolimont Peruvian Alpamayo. This is a rare and celebrated blood line.

Viracocha has all the requirements for a perfect herdsire. His conformation is perfect, he is an absolute gentleman, proud of himself, and yet quiet and gentle to handle. At the age of nine, his micron count was still an amazing 24.6 and incredibly at the age of fourteen has now gone down to 23.6. He is the proud sire of many champions, including Aztec Vira Cruz, and our own Kelowna's Viva el Viracocha. In 2006 he sired Kelowna's Au Revoir Fintry, an outstanding young male, who will take his place as a Macho here at Laurentian Alpacas in 2009. In 2007 he gave us a beautiful little female cria, Kelowna's Amaya.

In 2008, Viracocha sired Tocapo Viracocha, a very nice looking male, full brother to Kelowna's Au Revoir Fintry. At the Expo Quebec show in 2009, Tocapo placed 3rd in his class, and his fleece placed 5th in the 2009 Lloydminster Fleece show. In 2009, Viracocha gave us two more cria, one male, and one female, both looking very promising. Viracocha is now 15 years old, and his fibre statistics are amazing for an animal of this age - his 2009 fibre stats are AFD 24.3, SD 4.4, CV 18.2, and fibres greater than 30 microns 7.9.
