Hard at work on our farm
ABOUT US
A dream that started with a picture of an alpaca on the cover of a local newspaper has resulted in our Laurentian Alpaca Farm.
We caught our first glimpse of one of these loveable animals on the cover of our local newspaper and were immediately intrigued. Having recently bought a property with 18 acres of land, we were keen to join the farming community and alpacas seemed a natural fit.
In 2005, during the initial stages of researching the industry, we came across an incredible opportunity that would eventually see the relocation of a well established, double registered herd from Kelowna, British Columbia, to our acreage in Quebec.
We now have a herd of over 20 animals and growing. We have spent countless hours committed to learning about our animals and establishing a comfortable home for them here in the Laurentian hills of Quebec.
Our aim is to diversify our genetic pool in order to breed to the highest possible standards. Our existing herd already has some of the most desirable genetics in Canada, thanks to the excellent breeding standards of our partners, Kelly and Boyd Cumming of Kelowna Alpaca Farm. Along with our own Jolimont Peruvian Viracocha, we have Jolimont Peruvian Alpamayo, Coyo Destini, Pperuvian Vengador, Kelowna's Sundance Kid, DLA Pastoro and Peruvian Guellermo bloodlines in our herd. With the recent addition of the bloodlines of Peruvian Daniel III and MMR Marcoyo as well as the upcoming addition of Jolimont Peruvian Noah and Peruvian Condor, we feel that we are well on our way to achieving our long term goal.
