Our alpacas grazing in the spring after being shorn

Laurentian Alpacas

With our growing herd at Laurentian Alpacas, we are committed to breeding some of the world's best genetics to help develop and expand the alpaca and fibre industry in Canada and the United States for years to come.

At Laurentian Alpacas we offer alpaca sales, fibre sales, breeding services and ongoing client support. We are also proud to be in partnership with Kelowna Alpaca Farm - Kelly and Boyd Cumming - and would like to thank them for all their encouragement and support.

News - March 2011

We are thrilled to welcome AMBER AUTUMN'S YVES as one of our herdsires. YVES arrived at Laurentian Alpacas in October 2010, and although at first a little nervous with our Maremma/great Pyrenees LGD's, he is now very comfortable with all of his new barn mates! Just look at this boy - he is a son of RFA TURK the top dark brown herdsire in Canada, and his dam is Amber Angelico, a daughter of PERUVIAN BONANZA, the top fawn herdsire in Canada. YVES first cria will be arriving in the spring of 2011. We are offering 10 outside breedings with YVES in 2011 - don't miss this chance to have these amazing genetics in your herd - have a look at our herdsire page for more information on this handsome boy!

In early August 2010, we entered five fleeces into the Fleece Show component of the Navan Fair Alpaca Show, and once again were very happy with our results: WILLIAM WALLACE placed 4th, VIS-A-VIS VIRAZ placed 3rd, both ARISTO MILORD MOLIèRE and ARISTO CADENCE CANTO placed 2nd, and KELOWNA'S AU REVOIR SKAHA, at 4 years of age, placed 1st in her class, and went on to become the Reserve Light Colour Champion. We only had one entry in the composite part of the show - ARISTO CADENCE CANTO, but he delighted us by placing 1st in his class, and then winning the Fawn Colour Champion ribbon.

Later in August 2010, at the Expo Québec Alpaca Show we were, once again, extremely excited by ARISTO CADENCE'S showing in the ring. He won 1st in his class, went on to become Colour Champion, and then, to our amazement, was selected by Judge Cathy Merkley as the Supreme Champion of the show. We were competing against over 90 alpacas, so are very proud of our boy. Cathy commented "the future of fawn genetics is in good hands". CADENCE will be more than happy to offer his services to a limited clientele - after discussion with us, he will be available for 10 outside breedings in 2011! Don't miss your chance to acquire these exceptional genetics into your herd. Check our herdsire page for more information on CADENCE.

We made a decision that 2009 would be JOLIMONT PERUVIAN VIRACOCHA'S last year as a herdsire. He has now retired from 'active duty', but still considers himself to be the One and Only! He settled four females here in 2009, and during 2010 we welcomed his last two handsome sons and two beautiful daughters. Some of these cria will be for sale, so if adding this now rare line to your herd interests you, please let us know.

VIRACOCHA'S four year old son, KELOWNA'S AU REVOIR FINTRY, has taken over his fathers position, and settled his first female in 2010. We are waiting with excitement to see this cria, as the mother to be is a HIGH PLAINS SUPER SAM grand daughter - some great genetics in this package! FINTRY is for sale, but in the meantime is also available as a stud for your females. His full brother TOCAPO VIRACOCHA will be starting his career this year. With all of these great boys to choose from, we should have an exciting crop of cria in 2012!

Our 2009 cria upheld our expectations with an average AFD of 19.1, after their first shearing in 2010.
