Our alpacas grazing in the spring after being shorn
Laurentian Alpacas
With our growing herd at Laurentian Alpacas, we are committed to breeding some of the world's best genetics to help develop and expand the alpaca and fibre industry in Canada and the United States for years to come.
At Laurentian Alpacas we offer alpaca sales, fibre sales, breeding services and ongoing client support. We are also proud to be in partnership with Kelowna Alpaca Farm - Kelly and Boyd Cumming - and would like to thank them for all their encouragement and support.
NewsSeptember 2008All six of our 2008 cria are now on the ground - all healthy, happy and showing early signs of some beautiful fibre. We are thrilled with Viracocha's son, a full brother to both Kelowna's Au Revoir Fintry, and Kelowna's Amaya. Our MMR Marcoyo and Aristo Cassandre son is a beautiful copper brown boy, with amazing fibre. Our third boy is looking outstanding too. He is T'ikamayo and Viva El Viracocha's son, so has amazing genetics, with both Alpamayo and Viracocha as his grandsires. We have three beautiful girls too - two T'ikamayo daughters from Stardust and Misq'i, and a lovely little female from MMR Marcoyo and Aristo Salomé. We are extremely proud to announce that we have won our first ribbons! At the recent Navan Fair Fleece Show in Ontario we entered three of our fleeces, and much to our delight came home with four ribbons! Fintry won first in his class of twelve, and went on to become white colour champion, from a total twenty seven entries. Fintry's full sister, Kelowna's Amaya, won second in her class of eight; and Kelowna's Au Revoir Kaleden won first in her class of three. We have now sent these fleeces, as well as that of Kelowna's Au Revoir Skaha (a Kelowna's Sundance Kid daughter) to the Pacafiesta/Alpaca Canada Fleece Show to be judged by Cameron Holt in Halifax at the end of September. We are going to be attending that show, as are our partners, Kelly and Boyd Cumming of Kelowna Alpaca Farm, and are very much looking forward to meeting Cameron in person. |
